Back in America’s wild west, horses were the sole mode of transportation. In those days, cowboys had to do whatever they could to keep their horses from being stolen. It’s said that one cowboy had the idea of rigging horseshoes up to work as a lock. So as the story goes, that was the starting point for this puzzle. Don’t just use your head – you’ve got to wrangle with this one to solve it.

As the end of the 19th century, Britain experienced a huge puzzle craze. I managed to pick up a number of the puzzles famous during that period in flea markets, despite their rarity. Based on these original puzzles from Britain’s famous puzzle period, this is one that we have successfully revived in its new form. These two linked S-shaped pieces seem simple enough, but freeing them is another story. The key word is “twins”.

Three pieces with spots on them, look almost ready to tumble free from their dice-inspired frame. However one piece coming out draws another one inside, making it hard to get a handle on this teaser of a puzzle. Designed by Australian designer Timothy Collins.

This puzzle is based on an original called the “Puzz-Ring”. Popularized in 15th century Europe, this ring style was actually used for official engagement and marriage rings. Christian reformist, Martin Luther, was even known to wear one. It is also rumored to prove as evidence of its wearer’s adultery… when it comes apart into pieces. That’s quite a history contained in this little puzzle.

Cast Donuts has beautifully shaped rings that look like 2 donuts intertwined together. Try solving the puzzle by imagining the inner structure and using each of the rings’ division lines as a hint.
